Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver)

Cheap Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver) Review

While I prefer to use my DSLR whenever possible, it’s not practical to carry it around everywhere that I go with my two young children, so I have always also kept a point-and-shot nearby for candids. My last little Canon finally bit the dust when my oldest son bent the retractable lens out of place and then tried to shut the camera off, jamming it for good. That was after three and a half years of use and abuse, so I definitely got my money out of it, which is why I went for a Canon again to replace it.

This is REALLY a compact little camera, very sleek and stylish. The software has definitely had some changes and updates, but it only took me a few days to get acclimated and now I find that it’s easier and quicker to use than my older one. The pictures are obviously not comparable to my DSLR, but I’ve gotten some great shots, so I already considering this a worthwhile investment. In my opinion, if you’re looking for a easy to carry, easy to operate, affordable digital camera, this is the one for you.

(As a sidenote, I purchased a refurbished model, saved a few bucks, got a brand-new quality camera, and ended up with an unexpected bonus battery in the box!)

GGS DSLR LCD Optical Glass Screen Protector for Canon EOS 40D, 50D camera

Cheap GGS DSLR LCD Optical Glass Screen Protector for Canon EOS 40D, 50D camera Review

I bought these not so sure about how they would look and work. well not that I have them installed I forget they are there and have no more worries about my LCD getting hurt. These things are awesome for protection and practically disappear when you installed them. They stick great and only touch around the black frame around your LCD. The viewing though it I think is actually better than just the screen. I thought the glare my get worse with these but it doesn’t. Some of the best protection I have ever bought for my cameras, wish I would have done it sooner. This to me know is just as important as getting a UV filter.

BBE Opto Stomp Optical Compressor Guitar and Bass Pedal

Cheap BBE Opto Stomp Optical Compressor Guitar and Bass Pedal Review

Can you get a better compressor? I’m sure there’s some 0 boutique pedal out there that is possibly better than this one. But for ****** this is completely unbeatable. I’m a bassist and I have a number of other compressors (Aguilar, Markbass, EBS, MXR, Line 6 to name a few), all of which were at least twice as expensive as this one, yet this one sounds better, has better build quality, is quieter, and easier to use. I have a ,000 Modulus bass, a ,500 amp, so it is not a financial decision that I use this pedal–I would probably pay four times what they’re asking for it here, but to get a compressor this good for this little money is a complete no-brainer, just click ‘Add To Cart’!

Cheap Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W230 12 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom and Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization (Dark Blue) Review

Its a good camera with great picture quality. Easy to use with different modes of operating with it. Image stabilization avoids blurring of images and you can click even when you are moving. But may be because of the brand name the cost is a little higher than other cameras with similar features.
Over all its a good product to buy.

Canon Powershot A2000IS 10MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

April 22, 2010

Cheap Canon Powershot A2000IS 10MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Review

I’ve only had this a short time, but I’m not new to digital photography. I bought this after a lot of research. I wanted a smaller camera because I just didn’t want to lug my sx10is around all the time. What I wanted was good picture quality. This little camera is a gem. I am absolutely impressed with how good the pictures really are. It’s a point and shoot with point and shoot limitations. Sure, it’s missing manual controls but, I really don’t care. I just wanted simplicity, a smaller & lighter camera that takes decent pictures. I got everything I was looking for. When using flash, it is slow for the next picture but, that’s not unusual in cameras like these. I ran into the same situation when I used point and shoot film cameras. So, this was no surprise to me, and it’s acceptable for me. The video should not be zoomed as digital zoom just plain stinks. The colors are more saturated in this camera I notice. The contrast is bumped up a notch higher too. In bright sunny days, I like that. I haven’t done much in dimmer lighting yet, so I’m curious as to how those colors may act since saturation is up. If I see a problem, I can always switch to the program mode, then switch “my colors” to “Neutral.” That should calm over saturation down. I’ll have to wait and see. I always set the focus to center. That seems to work the best for me. I do the same with my sx10. I’m not impressed with face detection. What I can’t seem to see any differences is in the auto vs. easy mode. I even put my bifocals back on. Does anyone see any difference between the “easy” and “auto” mode? Over all, for the money, I think this takes wonderful snap shots. Clear. Colorful. No purple tint/fringing. It’s a nifty lightweight easy to use camera that really does a fine job. I think a lot of people who just want nice pictures will love this camera. When I give this a wirl at night, I’ll update this post and give you the good or bad news. Reading the manual to all cameras several times is just so important. I take it with me. I’m not ashamed to read it out in public. I want my pictures to look as good as they can. Understanding how my camera works is just so worth learning. I can take beautiful pictures because there is more to a camera tha the “auto” mode.

Microsoft Intellimouse Optical Mouse

Cheap Microsoft Intellimouse Optical Mouse Review

I went crazy looking at Amazon mouse reviews. It seems that
many people are really picky about their mouse. I’m not.
I just wanted a comfortable mouse for use with my left
hand.

I like the feel of this mouse (I’m a guy with medium to
medium-large hands). The buttons and scroll
wheel are fine. I didn’t install the software that came
with the mouse — it worked fine after just plugging in.
I’m not currently using the two extra buttons.

I don’t have any complaints but wish this mouse weighed
a bit more. I’ve only been using it for a
day so can’t comment on reliability.

I bought this mouse after buying and returning a
Microsoft Comfort 1000 mouse. I hated the scroll wheel
on that mouse — maybe it was a problem with the
particular one I bought. But I noticed that the
Intellimouse comes higher quality packaging and
includes a PS/2 adapter.

Sony DCRSX40/L Palm-Sized camcorder with 60X Optical Zoom (Blue)

Cheap Sony DCRSX40/L Palm-Sized camcorder with 60X Optical Zoom (Blue) Review

Yes, very easy to use. The on-screen menu system is intuitive. If you’re vaguely familiar with digital video, there’s no need to read the manual at all. One of the truly great features for me is that there is NO NEED to install ANY software in order to connect the camera to the computer and transfer the data. Video and stills are held in easy to find folders and you can simply drag and drop them into your computer folder.

The on-camera review function is greatly facilitated by it’s display-by-date design. You simply browse the dates and it shows you thumbnails of each video shot on that date. Click one to view it. Very easy.

Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P High Definition Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Silver)

April 10, 2010

Cheap Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P High Definition Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Silver) Review

All right, so I’d been looking for a better camera than my old one for months, but every time I looked at one, there was some big flaw with it that was a deal breaker to me, such as, It was to expensive, only recorded in 720p and 30 frames per second. (Which is the lowest form of HD in existence. Anyway, I looked at this one and OHMIGOSH! It had everything the 0 camcorders had. It has

1080p at 30 frames per second
720p at 60 frames per second for action shots
It has a place to put an external mic
It has a 5x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom
It has video stabilization
It has a good battery life
It works with wondows
And it’s only 4!
It doesn’t get a whole lot better than that anyway, but for just 164 bucks that’s awesome.
So when I got it, I immediately started filming, and it was great. There are only to problems I can see with this camera. First off, Windows will accept the videos it shoots but Windows Movie Maker wont, as WMM doesn’t take the .mov format. So, I suggest getting a new edting software if yours won’t take .mov. Personally I like Pinnacle Studios 11, which will take the HD format.
Overall a great camera. I hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

Fujifilm FinePix AX200 12 MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Silver)

April 10, 2010

Cheap Fujifilm FinePix AX200 12 MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Silver) Review

NOTE: I have this camera in black. Other than the color, they are the same.

Honestly, I purchased this camera solely for the HD recording feature. It’s a bonus in that it takes pretty darn good pictures, too. I trust the Fuji name and I should have known this camera would deliver on both counts. My first digital camera was a Fuji A205, and even today it takes quality photos as good as it did almost 7 years ago.

Pictures are sharp and the colors are right on target. Response time after taking a picture without using the flash was just about 1 second or even slightly under a second, which is great considering this camera uses AA batteries; response time between pictures with the flash firing was around 2 seconds before ready to take another flash shot…a lot better than some other brands I’ve tried recently. (Specifically the Canon A495 and the Nikon L20, which I tried and eventually returned for a refund. This Fuji AX200 leaves these two cameras behind in the dust.)

A minor complaint I have with the AX200 is the shiny plastic it is made of – it shows every fingerprint. It looks nice but I wish they would make these cameras with a matte finish instead. The tripod mount is plastic also and is located in the center bottom, which is good for stability if using a mini-tripod.

The optical wide angle zoom on this camera is 5X (a majority of cameras at this price point have 3X). It uses readily-available AA batteries. The camera comes with 2 alkaline batteries; I was able to shoot around 125 pictures and some short movies with these batteries before they expired. I recommend buying rechargeable batteries; I got double the amount of shots with rechargeables. You also need an SD card, this camera has some internal memory, but not enough to do anything other than take a few pictures.

This camera is so easy to use, anyone from a young child to older people should have no trouble. I handed it off to my 5 year old nephew to use and even he could figure out how to take a picture. It’s larger than an ultra-compact, and easier to hold onto. The measurements are 3.7″ wide x 2.4″ high x 1.1″ thick. It’s thicker on the end where the batteries and SD card are inserted.

You can take the camera out of the box and be taking pictures in no time flat. SR-Auto (the default) automatically senses the scene and adjusts itself accordingly: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Backlit Portrait, or Night Portrait.

There is no dial to change settings, everything is accessed thorough menu navigation. It’s easy to select the right shooting mode as there is a full description on the screen as you scroll through the settings. For example: on the Portrait Scene, the description underneath says “Portrait with soft overall tone and beautiful skin tones”.

In additional to having Face Detection, this camera has the following Scenes to choose from: Scene Recognition (SR Auto), Auto, P Program AE – where you can change ISO (100 to 3200), white balance and exposure. Natural – no flash – and flash – takes 2 pictures, 1 with flash, 1 without. Natural Light, Portrait, Baby Mode, Landscape, Panorama, Sport (I use this with pets that don’t want to hold still). Night, Night with Tripod, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Party, Flower, and Text.

This camera has Picture Stabilization (somehow built into the camera’s software), but it is NOT optical image stabilization.

Next, you have your movie modes – 3 to choose from – HD at 720p, and also 640 and 320 in the AVI format.

This is IMPORTANT: You can use the optical zoom while recording movies, however, sounds will not be recorded AT ALL during the ENTIRE time the lens is zoomed out……But if you leave the movie zoom setting on digital, not optical, you will record sound the entire time it is on digital zoom. **This is a major complaint of mine for this camera.** I did keep my rating at 5 stars, though, mainly because I won’t be using zoom that often on my movies, and the digital zoom isn’t as bad “quality-wise” as I thought it would be.

If you want to play the movies back on your TV, you will need to purchase an additional A/V cable (AV-C1) if you don’t already own one. If you want to play an HD movie back on your HDTV, you will need to purchase an additional HDMI cable. There is also an optional Model HDP-L1 player available on Fujifilm’s web site, which includes an HD card reader and a remote. Since I don’t have an HDTV myself, I didn’t purchase this so I can’t comment on it.

The AX200 also comes with very basic Fuji MyFinepixViewer photo editing software. It’s compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and Mac. This is one area where Fuji lags behind the rest; I wish they could come up with software as good as the Canon ZoomBrowser. The Finepix software was finally upgraded from the 2003 version with this camera, but it still doesn’t impress me. Using XP requires a minimum 512 RAM and Vista requires a minimum of 1 GB RAM. Just download Picasa, it’s better – and a free download.

NOTE: Check back in the next couple days I will have some pictures uploaded here.
