Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver)

Cheap Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver) Review

While I prefer to use my DSLR whenever possible, it’s not practical to carry it around everywhere that I go with my two young children, so I have always also kept a point-and-shot nearby for candids. My last little Canon finally bit the dust when my oldest son bent the retractable lens out of place and then tried to shut the camera off, jamming it for good. That was after three and a half years of use and abuse, so I definitely got my money out of it, which is why I went for a Canon again to replace it.

This is REALLY a compact little camera, very sleek and stylish. The software has definitely had some changes and updates, but it only took me a few days to get acclimated and now I find that it’s easier and quicker to use than my older one. The pictures are obviously not comparable to my DSLR, but I’ve gotten some great shots, so I already considering this a worthwhile investment. In my opinion, if you’re looking for a easy to carry, easy to operate, affordable digital camera, this is the one for you.

(As a sidenote, I purchased a refurbished model, saved a few bucks, got a brand-new quality camera, and ended up with an unexpected bonus battery in the box!)

Timex Women’s T5J131 1440 Sports Digital Watch

July 6, 2010

Cheap Timex Women’s T5J131 1440 Sports Digital Watch Review

I just bought my second blue-grey Timex 1440 sports watch for about — a great price for a very light weight, comfortable watch that lights up and has a stopwatch and alarm function. This model and a similar one come in lavender, grey, and other colors. The color is subdued and goes with everything a person who looks good in denim blue should have in her wardrobe.

The buttons to set the time and alarm are kind of hard to push, and the method for changing time is not that straightforward so hang on to the instructions.

Note of caution: It’s a water resistant watch you don’t have to worry about breaking, as long as you don’t twist the band or flex it “backward.” The steel case makes the watch itself durable, but the decorative plastic framing it is vulnerable. My first watch stopped after I’d had it 17 months. When I flexed the band to remove the back so I could change batteries, the pressure of the band bending the “wrong way” cracked the housing right off where it gripped the watchband pin. Boo hoo, I loved my blue watch…so I got another one.

Weighmax Digital Kitchen Bowl Scale 5kg/11 Lb Black

July 5, 2010

Cheap Weighmax Digital Kitchen Bowl Scale 5kg/11 Lb Black Review

The top platform the bowl sits on is not attached to anything, so it does come off easily, especially when trying to pick it up and move it. That won’t BREAK it, again, it’s not attached to anything. It’s just a minor annoyance.

That’s my only real beef with it though. Well that, and my cats lick the bowl after I’ve weighed things in it, so I constantly have to keep washing cat hair out of it.

Otherwise, it’s pretty accurate from what I can tell, small, light, portable, and cute. Allows you the option of taring, so you can use other bowls with it as long as they fit on top of it. Has been a fantastic help- previously, how the heck was I supposed to measure “2 oz of spaghetti” or tell if I’d eating one or two ounces of cheese.

Furman M-8Dx Standard Level Power Conditioning, 15 Amp, 9 Outlets with Wall Wart Spacing, Pullout Lights, Digital Voltmeter

July 3, 2010

Cheap Furman M-8Dx Standard Level Power Conditioning, 15 Amp, 9 Outlets with Wall Wart Spacing, Pullout Lights, Digital Voltmeter Review

I bought this for use with my electronic drums & amp AFTER some friends had 238 volts go through their mixing board and monitors. Luckily, nothing was damaged.

I find the volt meter to be a help when first powering up before a gig to make sure there is adequate voltage on the circuit. The front mounted dimmable lights are a plus. If you need to know what your amperage is, just look at the tags on your connected equipment.

A great addition to your equipment, and at a very affordable price!

Alesis PalmTrack Handheld Portable Digital Recorder, 24-Bit SD

June 28, 2010

Cheap Alesis PalmTrack Handheld Portable Digital Recorder, 24-Bit SD Review

This is a rather handy device. I needed something that I could just quickly record some song demos and send to band mates over the web. It does as advertised and sounds surprisingly crisp. I am currently using the “mp3″ setting at 320 and the two built in mics. Have not tried a separate mic yet. I have recorded with “wav” but could not send a 3 minute song via e-mail attachment because it was “too big” of a file to send so I went back to “mp3″. Frankly, could not tell the difference in sound quality. Menu is easy to set, too. I attached the base of unit to a mini-tripod (camera) stand so it doesn’t tip over–that’s a really nice feature. Don’t know about battery usage yet–seems fine so far. Once hooked up to a computer you can “rename” your songs and that also shows up on the PalmTrack, too after you disconnect. The unit is very plastic-y and I don’t recommend dropping it! Best advice–get the little mini-tripod camera stand.

Impecca DFM1512 15″ Digital Photo Frame in Black

June 25, 2010

Cheap Impecca DFM1512 15″ Digital Photo Frame in Black Review

The Impecca is “impeccable” as they state and it’s true! This frame is so easy to use, insert your media stick, turn on the switch and VOILA…you have an instant slide show. Unlike other brands that ask you to select the media, i.e. slides or movies, etc. then make you walk through 3 more steps BEFORE the slide show starts, this Impecca “starts instantly”! My only slight issue with it…is that sometimes it won’t “start” with the remote control…thus necessatating lifting up the frame and turning “off” the switch…and then turning it back “on”…a minor annoyance! Also I wish they had put the switch on the side…rather than the bottom.

Don’t waste your time with other digital frames…go for this one! Very user friendly! Also I purchased the 15″ screen size…smaller screens just don’t have the “punch” and “effect” like this frame does…so go for the 15″ screen! Bright, sharp, clear and the random transitions for slides is a plus!
