Timex Women’s T5J131 1440 Sports Digital Watch

Cheap Timex Women’s T5J131 1440 Sports Digital Watch Review

I just bought my second blue-grey Timex 1440 sports watch for about — a great price for a very light weight, comfortable watch that lights up and has a stopwatch and alarm function. This model and a similar one come in lavender, grey, and other colors. The color is subdued and goes with everything a person who looks good in denim blue should have in her wardrobe.

The buttons to set the time and alarm are kind of hard to push, and the method for changing time is not that straightforward so hang on to the instructions.

Note of caution: It’s a water resistant watch you don’t have to worry about breaking, as long as you don’t twist the band or flex it “backward.” The steel case makes the watch itself durable, but the decorative plastic framing it is vulnerable. My first watch stopped after I’d had it 17 months. When I flexed the band to remove the back so I could change batteries, the pressure of the band bending the “wrong way” cracked the housing right off where it gripped the watchband pin. Boo hoo, I loved my blue watch…so I got another one.

Kaito KA404 Emergency Hand Crank Dynamo 5-LED Flashlight with AM/FM radio

July 4, 2010

Cheap Kaito KA404 Emergency Hand Crank Dynamo 5-LED Flashlight with AM/FM radio Review

This is a very nice tool. It can be used for camping, placed in your nightstand, or in the glove box. There are 2 levels for the light. The low level lights up 1 led, and the high level lights 5 leds. It’s not super bright, but again, it’s more than enough if you only use it while walking your dog. The radio buttons are some kinda small, thus may be difficult for some people to change channel. It also has a siren function, but not very loud. With about 1 minute cranking, the battery can hold enough electricity for the flashlight to work with all 5 leds lit up for about 45 minutes, and then fade out about 20 minutes. The radio consumes much more electricity than the leds. You can only expect the radio work for 5 minutes at most. The crank is relatively hard to crank, i.e. more resistant, if you clockwise, but easy the other way. I assume more electricity could be generated with more resistance. The quality is OK for its price. Everything outside is made of plastic. The crank is hold by two very small screws, as the result, I dare not to crank fast and use my full strength when cranking. The flashlight button is removable and came off the second day when my 4-year old son played with it. But I believe a little glue will fix it. Overall, I’m happy with this purchase.

CamelBak Omega HydroTanium Replacement Reservoir

Cheap CamelBak Omega HydroTanium Replacement Reservoir Review

Quality used to be in every product but now it’s a word I use less and less often. I think that any company that offers a lifetime guarantee knows that they are making a quality product. I am confident that I could run this over in my car and it wouldn’t break. What else can you say that about? This was a good addition to my Eagle Industries AIII hydration capable backpack. I also ordered a CamelBak 100-Ounce UnBottle for use outside of my pack. Either way, CamelBak make superior quality products.

Leatherman Wave Multi-Tool

Cheap Leatherman Wave Multi-Tool Review

I have used Leatherman tools for 5 plus years. I bought the Wave to upgrade from the Sideclip. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my Sideclip other than day-to-day wear. Unfortunatly it was obsolete and had to get something newer. As a scout leader and a manufacturing engineer, I use my Leatherman everyday. After watching two survival videos from leading experts, I purchased the Wave per their recomendation. Not only are all to tools locking, the external blades can be unfolded, locked, unlocked, and stowed with one hand. I bought the clip with it, which is exceptionally easy to install and remove if needed in seconds. It keeps the tool at easy grasp inside a pocket and does not attract attention. (The pouch gets in the way when climbing in and out of hydraulic cabinets as well as when manuevering through the brush looking for downed deer.) Quality for me is absolutely critical, and this item is ALL quality. Sharp knives, clean edges, easy to handle. I have already shown it to a lot of my co-workers and they are going to order theirs soon!!

Ka-Bar Machete Kukri Md: 1249.

Cheap Ka-Bar Machete Kukri Md: 1249. Review

This kukri machete lives up to the hype.
Ka-Bar has a historic reputation for making durable knives and they did not slouch on this one.

When I recieved this knife I noticed that it was razor sharp. I shaved a few hairs off of my arm to prove it.
Its made of good steel and has black coating to protect it.

The overall length of the knife is about 18 inches from tip to the end of the pommel.

The grip is solid and comfortable.This knife will not slip out of your hand easily.

Since the weight of the blade is farther out towards the tip,a slash with this knife delivers more force on a swing than a long flat machete.
I used it to cut through some palmetto bushs on the edge of my property and it went through them like a hot knife through butter.
Afterwards, the blade was still sharp.

The sheath is made of leather with metal fasteners and is of good quality.
It has solid attachments that let you hang it on your belt or gear.

This knife functions better than longer, heavier machetes that I have had in the past.
It cost a little more than some similar knives on AMAZON.COM but, as the old saying goes: “You get what you pay for.”

Whenever you are slicing through heavy brush (or zombies :) ), this blade is a handy tool to have around!

FuelBelt Sprint 10-Ounce Palm Holder with Pocket

Cheap FuelBelt Sprint 10-Ounce Palm Holder with Pocket Review

I own a fuel belt and find it bulky and heavy, so I was looking for a replacement for short-mid distance runs. I’ve found this works for up to 8 miles if it’s not too hot out. The bottle is angled to fit in your hand better, which makes it fit in the holder funny, but it’s never slipped out or anything. I actually just bought a second one because I like them so much for weekday runs.

Ventura Mini Alloy Ding-Dong Bicycle Bell

Cheap Ventura Mini Alloy Ding-Dong Bicycle Bell Review

Well, it was cheap, easy to install, and makes a nice ring. Unlike some of the other ones we’ve had, that either chimed in a rattling sound or honked loudly, this one gives you one pleasant “ding.” Not irritating at all. I bought 3 for my 3 kids’ bikes, but it didn’t fit my son’s slightly thicker handlebars. My 2 daughter’s bikes were fine. Just make sure your bike handlebars are the standard size.

FlipKlip Treadmill Book Holder 1-Pak

June 29, 2010

Cheap FlipKlip Treadmill Book Holder 1-Pak Review

Being that I am doing a lot more book reading these days, and need to read at every opportunity, I turned to Google to look for a book holder-opener to use when I am on the treadmill (having misplaced the other doodad I was using). The first product to pop up was the a cool little book holder called the FlipKlip. The FlipKlip is manufactured by BlueZap in beautiful C’oeur d’Alene, Idaho. The owner of the company is Bob Begin, also known as Mr. Wizard.

The premise behind the FlipKlip is to keep a book open when you are engaged in activities where two hands are not necessarily available – such as knitting, typing, cooking and exercising. Eureka – the treadmill – perfect!

Recommended places to use the FlipKlip (as cited on the BlueZap website) are:

* On your computer desktop
* Reading bed
* In the kitchen (perfect for holding open a cookbook)
* On the bus or train
* On the airplane tray table
* At Home
* At the Gym
* At School
* While Eating Lunch

I have been trying out the product for a couple weeks, and it has proven to be quite useful and durable. I am getting a lot more reading done, and it encourages me to get on the treadmill, where the tendency (or excuse?!) may be “I need to read; I can’t spare this hour on the treadmill.” The FlipKlip kills two birds with one stone! I have used other gadgets over the years, but the FlipKlip tops them all!

I appreciate the fact that it’s a perfect size, and, when not in use, it can be clamped onto the book for safe and easy portability. It comes in a variety of colors: Ortega Green, Deep Charcoal, Twilight Purple, Sunset Pink and Aruba Blue. And, best of all, it is manufactured in the USA!

The FlipKlip was generously provided to me by Bob Begin at BlueZap for review purposes.
