PENTEL Oil pastel set with carrying case, assorted colors, 50 pastels

Cheap PENTEL Oil pastel set with carrying case, assorted colors, 50 pastels Review

This oil pastel set is great. You get 50 pastels in the set. The description said set of 12 (boxes) which is incorrect (and seems too good to be true anyway for .99). I only got 1 set but for the price is still a great value. My almost 6 years old enjoyed this media very much and doesn’t want to go back to her crayons. It is softer.. the colors are more vibrant and much more fun to use. It is little messy (easily smudged) but she will learn not to touch her drawings sooner or later.

I am ordering more..

Caselogic LNEO-12 12.1-Inch Neoprene Netbook Sleeve (Black)

July 5, 2010

Cheap Caselogic LNEO-12 12.1-Inch Neoprene Netbook Sleeve (Black) Review

I have a 11.6″ Lenovo x100e, with a 6-cell battery bump. Dimensions including the battery are 11.1 x 8.2 x 1.2.

This baby Thinkpad that Lenovo refuses to call a netbook, is too big for a 10.1″ netbook sleeve, and too small for most regular notebook sleeves. It’s in that nether-land between notebook and netbook sizes. The Lenovo branded sleeve is expensive, and too thin by some descriptions.

I checked out sleeves from Targus, Belkin, Built, Kroo, Fellowes, Body Glove, Kensington. I already own several Case Logic neoprene bags and I love the high-quality build of their products. The sleeve fits like it was made for the x100e, neither loose nor tight.

This case met all my criteria:

- Neoprene. I didn’t want polyester.
- Slim form factor. It will sometimes be put inside a larger bag. I wanted just a sleeve, nothing bulky, and no foam padding.
- Conservative business-like color. I did not want a fashion statement. The black outside is unobtrusive. The red lining adds a little zing.
- Comfortable handles. Other styles have chintzy nylon handles, or none at all.
- Sturdy zippers and zipper pulls. I thought the front pocket had two side zippers, like a kangaroo pocket, but it’s just the one zipper, which is fine.
- Room for a power cord and maybe a slim mouse. Like others have mentioned, after loading the pocket, it looks a tad bumpy. I prefer the outer pocket design over other cases with inner mesh pockets.

Some complained about the smell. Mine came in a cardboard sleeve inside a shipping box, and the case does smell. For me, the chemical smell of a new neoprene wetsuit is like the fragrance of a new car interior! I hope the smell never dissipates!

Five Star® 1-Subject Notebooks in Red, Black, and Navy, 3-Pack (08277)

July 4, 2010

Cheap Five Star® 1-Subject Notebooks in Red, Black, and Navy, 3-Pack (08277) Review

Five Star makes good notebooks, and this is no exception. The cover is durable vinyl, the paper is the right quality and width (college ruled) and the two interior pockets are useful. I always appreciate any new design for convenience and the three holes that can (optionally) extend from the (heavy cardboard) back of the notebook could be helpful.

The idea is that you can reverse the notebook so the spiral faces toward the opening of your larger binder/notebook. Then you can open it to the left rather than, as usual, to the right. You can also secure it inside the binder this way.

For about each, I like these notebooks for their durability and their added convenience. Its a good product and good to see a manufacturer really thinking about how to add more convenience and usability to a basic and familiar product.

Retractable BLACK Reel With Belt Clip For Keys, IDs, Badges (Sold Individually)

Cheap Retractable BLACK Reel With Belt Clip For Keys, IDs, Badges (Sold Individually) Review

I had gotten a similar item for free. Being free, of course it wasn’t the highest quality. I thought the idea of it was unnecessary, but I found it quite useful. I was able to keep track of my keys, and was able to use them without removing them. Mine soon broke, and I found myself in dire need of a new one.

This product is great, and very damage resistant. It has withstood being dropped, thrown, and whatever else you could imagine. For the price, it is a very high quality product.

Caselogic PLS-17 Blue Ultra Portable 17″ Laptop Sleeve (Blue)

Cheap Caselogic PLS-17 Blue Ultra Portable 17″ Laptop Sleeve (Blue) Review

I was looking for a sleeve all over. I looked at all the products reviews to see if someone mentioned that the laptop was going to fit . No one mention what model laptop was the one that they where talking about. My Dell Studio 1747 (17.3″ screen)fits perfectly in the sleeve the inside is very soft. I would recomend this product to everyone who wants to keep a laptop safe. It does not have a handle but to carry it inside a bag is more than good plus it has a side pocket wich I have not used yet because I carry everything inside a backpack.

Caselogic CSAM-15 Canvas 15.4-Inch Artist Series Messenger Bag (Gray)

May 13, 2010

Cheap Caselogic CSAM-15 Canvas 15.4-Inch Artist Series Messenger Bag (Gray) Review

I ordered this bag the day after ordering my laptop, knowing I would be toting it back and forth on a daily basis to work and other places. Overall I’m pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive, functional and attractive laptop bag.

Style: I haven’t actually drawn on it, yet, but I like the messenger bag styling (not a briefcase or black nylon bag fan, sorry!) and find the overall look to be subtle enough to be acceptable in a professional environment – it is not trendy or likely to become dated, nor is it ugly or overly utilitarian. I can stuff my tennis shoes and a change of clothes for the gym into the non-laptop pocket, sharpie markers in the top zipper compartment, and water bottles into the bottle pockets on the corners of the bag without looking like I’m toting my entire closet along with me.

Comfort: When loaded down with the above items plus my laptop, it is slightly uncomfortable to carry – not unbearably so, by any means, but I can feel it. I don’t mind it, because I haven’t actually seen an attractively padded shoulder strap on a laptop bag, before, but it’s worth mentioning. I think the most comfortable option is probably a backpack, but I have always liked a messenger bag. I may eventually try a Case Logic tote backpack, for extended trips.

Size/Functionality: My laptop is maybe 1.2″ thick, when closed, and sports a 17″ widescreen. It fits quite snugly into the laptop pocket. I’m not sure a thicker model (say a Dell XPS or an Alienware) machine could fit, with the same screen size, but it’s perfect for my slim Vaio. The padding could be a little thicker around the pocket, but I am mindful of that and don’t handle this bag in an overly rough manner. I don’t feel uncomfortable toting other bulky items (like tennis shoes) along with the laptop, either. I would say that if you have a larger laptop and want better protection, you might get the 17″ version of the bag and a sleeve.

I feel like I could probably load this bag down a little more and it could take it, strength-wise, but because the sleeve is not very thick I’d rather play it safe, I don’t want to apply any pressure to my laptop. It also is not quite big enough to comfortably house my lapdesk/laptop cooler, which is made for a 17″ monitor, which is just something to think about if you are like me and trying to decide between this and the larger bag for your 17″ laptop. It would be perfect for a smaller laptop and all of your favorite laptop accoutrements, though.

Avery Top Loading Non-Glare Poly Sheet Protectors 200 Count (74401)

Cheap Avery Top Loading Non-Glare Poly Sheet Protectors 200 Count (74401) Review

I’ve been using these sheet protectors for a few months, and I am very pleased. The comment about them not being completely clear is true, I was also concerned about this when I first opened the box and saw the product, but I got used to it quickly and now I even like the tone! I don’t know how photos look in them, I just put all kinds of documents containing text in these (Sometimes I put up to 20-25 sheets of paper, not too comfortable but they fit, and I haven’t had any rips yet) and they’re very readable, and smooth to the touch, I’m always looking for reasons to use these more! Not that I need a lot of incentive, I’m always too lazy to hole punch my papers so these make a great solution and preserve the papers much better than simply stacking them inside the binder. They fit perfectly in all of my binders so I can’t imagine what kind of binder would be not wide enough for these. Highly recommended if you need anything like this.

Cheap Canon BCI-3e Multipack Ink Tanks – 4 Pack (Black/Cyan/Magenta/Yellow) (4479A230) Review

I tried some cheaper ink sold by Amazon, but the results were not good. Colors came out wrong and I couldn’t print in black at all. I wasn’t sure if it was my printer or the ink. I bought these and my problems cleared up. I took one star off because they are much more expensive. I know you get what you pay for but these are significantly more expensive.
