Cheap Melissa & Doug Finger Paint Paper Pad (12″x18″) Review

A very generous pad of quality finger paint paper for a small price. The paper is usable on both sides and the size is great for a young artist. I only gave a 2 for duability, because finger paint paper is simply not a durable product by design. If abused, it will tear. If heated with a match, it will burn. Even a 2-year-old can destroy an entire pad in less then fifteen minutes. That said, if you put your grandchild’s masterpiece in a frame for display, my bet is it will last longer then you will. This is a well made product suited to its purpose and priced nicely. My 4-year-old granddaughter did discover that it is not suitable for use with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. It is, however, excellent for finger paints.

Cheap Cables Unlimited ZIP-AUDIO-CD4 ZipLinq Retractable 3.5mm Audio Extension Cable (Black) Review

I use this retractable cable as an extension for my favorite pair of headphones that have a short cable. This is a good quality extension, but be careful not to stress the ends too much or you may wind up with an intermittent connection (as with any cable). This one is actually a replacement for a previous one that went intermittent after I inadvertently let the headphones fall and yank on the cable.

Cheap The Essential Michael Jackson Review

This is the first CD to cover Michael Jackson’s entire career from his early Jackson 5 years in the 70s to his later years in the mid 90s. Almost all his number one hits are here and famous songs such as ABC, Bad, Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean, and this CD offers a really great variety of songs. Although there were a few songs that I didn’t care for on this CD, as well as songs that I wish they would have included like Earth Song or Never Say Goodbye, it overall has quality soundtracks and is remastered in high sound quality. A minor thing is that they cut some of the songs short from the originals, most likely do to the time limit on the CDs, but the meat and potatoes of all the songs are on this CD and aren’t missing much of the original. If you are a die hard Jackson fan, you may want to buy each of his individual albulms, as this CD is missing a few essential songs from certain albulms, as well as cuts a few good songs shorter than the original counterpart, but if you are just a casual Jackson or pop fan, and are looking for a CD with almost all his top hits from the Jackson 5 years to the 90s, this CD is a must buy, and is really the only CD that spans his entire career. It is a lot cheaper than buying each albulm and is worth lossing a few songs over if you don’t have the money to buy individual albulms or don’t want to go through the trouble of figuring out which CDs to buy to get all his top songs. I think next Sony needs to release a DVD and Blu-ray of all Jackson’s music videos, that would be the ultimate tribute to the late King of Pop.

Cheap AquaLivin Waterproof Playing Cards Review

Not the laminated cards I was expecting. They are actualy plastic cards with a realy nice design. The only down side of them is that if you are playing in bright light, the light will shine through and show whats in your hand. Other than that I think they are perfect. I plan on using them when camping or and out door outing. I didn’t try tearing them to see how tough they are, but I susspect they are tougher than standard paper cards.

Cheap Avent Translucent Pacifiers, Clear Newborn Review

I’ve tried a few different brands of pacifiers and these were hands down the best. I tried the NUK type and they kept flying out of my baby’s mouth. She has done well with these since birth (she is now 9 months). She had some of the clear pacifiers and they were so hard to find if they fell or got misplaced. Try the colored ones. I highly recommend them!

Cheap LeapFrog Tag Junior Book Disney Pixar Cars Shapes All Around Review

I own the entire Tag Junior library. Check out my ratings before buying books! (I wish I had researched before buying them all!)
Each left-and-right page spread features a Cars-themed scene that contains several different versions of the current shape (for example, “circle” page has a Mater scene where the sun, his tires, a street sign, and a shop sign are all circles). Shapes included are: triangle, square, circle, diamond, rectangle, oval, and star.
Given that my son is a bit advanced for some of the Tag Junior books, I sat down with my 15-month-old and let her explore with it. She has already mastered how it works, and a “shapes” book like this one is just the right start for her age. It is also appropriate for my 3-year-old in that he can search for shapes within the picture (in I Spy fashion) and not simply be taught what a circle or square is. Overall, I feel like this book is a good value because it actually will get use out of pretty wide age/ability range, though for us, not quite how LeapFrog has judged it (2-4).

Cheap Sigh No More Review

I was not familiar at all with Mumford and Sons, until I saw them in Rolling Stone as one of the “Top New Bands of 2010.” So I went on YouTube and found a couple of their videos, and realized that I REALLY liked this band’s sound. Not easy to describe, I guess sort of a mix of acoustic old-timey/folk-rock/bluegrass. But even though they are mainly acoustic, the harmonies and soaring instrumentation (many of the songs start softly and build to a big finish) remind me of a more folk-style Arcade Fire. However I must say I much prefer Marcus Mumford’s world-weary vocal style to Win Butler’s David Byrne-type whining.
All in all this is a very strong work by a young band, which leaves me excited to see what they will do next. Standout tracks include the driving “Little Lion Man”, the lovely “Winter Winds”, and “Awake My Soul” with its soaring almost gospel-esque chorus.
This CD has gotten very positive reviews in the musical press overall, except for the music snobs at Pitchfork who inexplicably panned it. Ignore them and buy this CD by this talented young band.

Cheap Robert Larson 800-1800 Honing Guide Review

This guide makes sharpening my plane blades and chisels much easier and quicker that doing it freehand. Helps me keep a consistent angle on the bevel. Also helps keep the cutting edge perpendicular to the sides of the blade. Along with a flat hard surface (plane of glass) and several sheets of sandpaper of various grit, you can get most old bladed woodworking tools back into good cutting condition.
